I am about to purchase an 88 4runner sr5 v6 at 4x4 and I am in the works of planning a build and i am gonna do a sas at the beginning of the year but i am curious about the motor end of things, I am not mechanically challenged but i need some info about different motor and tranny combos that will be reliable and approximate cost of that and if it would be a drop in with a mount kit etc or if its gonna take a lot of fab works, thanks for the help!!

3.4 minus wiring will drop right in and you can use the stock trans set up,motor mounts ,clutch ,pressure plate flywheel throw out bearing needs to be from a 3.0 you also need the oil sender from the 3.0 check the 3.4 swaps and you will see every thing needed but it is as close to a direct swap as you can find.
