engine swap question
I am thinking about doing an engine swap on my 1990 4runner. Have access to a solid axel out of a toyo. My question is if i put a chev350 in it, should i go to dana's or just build up the toyo axels?
I am going to use trail-gear 5 inch lift. Does anyone have any other suggestions for other lifts? Preferably a 6 inch one?
thanx richie

Richie,
I believe that unless your going to go to Dana 60's or Corp 14 you should stay with the yota axles. They are plenty strong based upon your driving style. if you blow them up go to a corp 14 in the rear and then a Dana 60 in the front.
good luck. as for lift go with the trail gear 5inch springs and then use 2inch longer shackles which will net 6inches of lift.
First, Welcome.
Now search and read my friend. not flaming you but it is the best way to learn what other have gone through. Also be sure to start your own thread so you don't Hijack someone else's question. Good luck.

cnc u are getting into quite the job. if u know how to weld and use steel tools u should be fine. u ever replaced an engine for the same one before? best thing to do is take pictures of everything u do. i mean everything, even to the effect that u might be taking to many. they are the best way to remember what u did and have done. this way u wont have to go back through and tighten stuff twice. good luck. look forward to see what u do.
