You can build your own. As long as you have both wiring diagrams to do so. And if you are comfortable with that long task for doing so. Just make sure if you build it yourself you solder every thing and try not to splice unless you have to. As for the fuel pump I would check to see what the fuel pump in the yota has for pressure and than see what the engine requires for pressure. If you can retain the factory yota one in the tank w/o have to modify that it would just be that much easier. If im not mistaking the yota one will work I think that they have ample pressure to run almost any fuel injected engine. I think that they are around 45-50 psi or so.

I've got a 95 x-tra cab with an auto and I'm having similar problems. I found a manual transmission and transfer case. I can go with the 4.3 or look for a 350 with turbo 350 transmission. I want to keep the fuel injection. On some hills and in some holes i've had carb issues. (just my luck possibly) Thinking 40's or 44's with 3/4 ton running gear when I'm finished. I can't find much that will let me use the auto or the auto transfer case so I guess it depends on what transmission i find first. Good luck with your build.

it'd be really cool to have a buick 350 in a yota
pros over the 4.3
more torque down low due to the 3.85 stroke
better power to weight ratio(weighs 450 lbs..just like the 4.3 v6 but more power)
cheaper engine to pickup
Cons
harder to find engines sometimes
carb and not tbi( so make sure you have a carb in good running order)
engine is wider, so DS manifold will most likely want to be in the same spot as the steering shaft!...not sure if headers will do the trick, but can always somehow offset the steering shaft
Ive went through the same dilemah, and decided to just go 4.3 for ease...but later down the line I WILL venture into makeing a buick 350 fit, and it will be fuel injected via a retrotek system, and stroked via offset grinding the crank, and using carrella, or honda rods to make 370 cubes(its been done atleast 2x already)
