96 3rzfe distributor head swap onto 2000 3rzfe block???
Vehicle working on : •1996 Toyota Tacoma 4x4, California smog compliant, 2.7 - 3RZFE distributor type ignition with A/C and manual transmission. 5th digit of VIN # "M". 350,000 miles.
• My goal is to remove the 1996 - 3RZFE and replace with a 2000 - 3RZFE.
• My question is, "Can I use the distributor type - 1996 - 3RZ FE cylinder head, and all its attached components including valve train. And swap (install) the 1996 cylinder head onto a coil pack ignition type - 2000 - 3RZ FE engine block?
•If the 1996 head will line up and bolt onto a 2000 block, are there any conversions or modifications necessary? Any for smog compliance? Will the timing chain and cam shaft alignments be the same?
• Note : will be using a new timing chain and the head will be rebuilt before installing.
Thank you for any help and advice
