3.0 V6 3VZE Dimension Questions
I'm hoping there's someone out there with a 3VZE 3.0 V6 lying around that has some calipers that could measure this dimension for me. I need to know how far the crank extends into the flywheel. It would also be helpful to know if the recess for the pilot bearing is only 10mm deep, so that the pilot bearing, when fully pressed in, will still be flush with the outside of the crank, or if it's possible to press the pilot bearing in further (how deep would the recess for the bearing be then?)
Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Those are some crazy ass questions. But lucky you, I'm just crazy enough to have the answers.
1. It sticks out 8.5mm.
2. The pilot bearing is recessed 2.5mm when fully pressed in.
3. How deep is the hole? 2.5mm + the thickness of the pilot bearing. So...10mm + 2.5mm = 12.5mm. Should be anyway. But I'm not going to pull a good pilot bearing to find out for sure. Sorry.

UPDATE
I've measured both of my 3VZ-E cranks now. And apparently there's some small inconsistencies. And I made a small error when measuring one of them the first time(). Shouldn't matter too much....I wouldn't think. Anyhow...hopefully you'll see this in time to make any corrections to your plans....if required.
O.k.....let me try this again. With slightly more precision this time.
My 90 crank measures 8.8mm(NOT 8.5mm), with a steep(~45°) chamfer from 7.9mm - 8.8mm. At first I had unintentionally missed the fact that I was measuring from a small step/protrusion near where it meets the flywheel mating surface...instead of the actual flywheel mating surface. That's what threw me off .3mm. It has an OEM(KOYO) pilot bearing recessed 2.5mm(got that much right the first time).
My 88 crank measures 8.6mm, with a very shallow chamfer from 8.4mm - 8.6mm. It has a cheapo chinese pilot bearing that's recessed 3mm. Something tells me it might be .5mm thinner(than the OEM). But it's still good too. So I'd hate to pull it just to check that. But if I do...I'll let you know what I find there.
They are both OEM crankshafts for sure. But I don't know exactly why they'd be slightly different. Other than...it doesn't matter if they are...of course.

Thanks for the update! The key info I took away from your findings, is that the pilot bearing actually sits inside the crankshaft for roughly 2mm. Because of that, for my design, I'm going to use a simple oilite custom machined bearing, as there isn't enough meat there for a bearing adapter. It's too bad it had to sit partially inside the crank, versus all the way or not at all.
