FJ60 front axle???

I recently acquired what I believe to be an FJ60 front axle.
I know nothing about these and was wondering if it would be a good candidate for a SAS on my 1989 Hilux.

check out axleike's build thread, he is using a LC axle upfront..though I think it might be an 80 axle

I just swapped my FJ60 axle for an FJ40.
The only reason was a width issue. I believe the 60 axle is about 3" wider than the 40 axle.

the FJ60 axle is as wide as a IFS rear axle... its just nicer for people that dont want to use wheel spacers.

I'm just curious, if the fj60 front axel is the same width as an ifs rear axel, how come more people don't use them for their sas projects? Are they just harder to come by? Thanks in advance for any responses -Ed

Probably harder to come by is one reason. Also they are set up in a spring under configuration, so you would need to relocate the spring perches for spring over. Also, not sure on the steering arm setup, so you may have less options on the steering as compared to the mini-truck axles if they are not the same. And a different size 3rd member, not a big deal for a SAS, but you will have 2 different sizes front and rear.
