Is this trip still on - I hope so!
I am VERY interested in going on this trip - 2006 works for me!
I'll try to go sign up at that other site.
I was planning this trip anyway... nice to know there are other like minded yotatech people.

A starting place for information:
North to Alaska
Has some information on the trip. Also Milepost
Is supposed to be the ultimate travel guide.
Okay... who's still up for this?

2nd the recommendation on The Milepost as a travel guide if anyone is planning a trip up here.
Well worth the money, one of the best travel guides for a region that money can buy.

you all are more than welcome up here i have a nice place north of anchorage . everything here is a drive and usually only 1 rd in or out so keep that in mind while traveling . even in june it can snow . as far as trains go therr is no train system that goes completely through alaska to the lower 48 . the ferry sytem here sucks and is very expensive and must reserve a spot way in advance as it fills up fast every yr .
you pay for size of vehicle and per person and unless you payed for cabin a yr before on reserve you sleep on the deck .
the best way is to drive up the alcan with the milepost in hand you can learn alot about us as you reach each milemarker .wich is what we did and what we lived by for the week driving up here from texas .
if you need any help please ask . i have a large shop you can use and a place to crash and i can show you some awsome trails while your here .
fuel through canada is very expensive carry as much as you can . and that highway eats tires i had 2 spares and used them both . but the drive is worth every bit u put into it .
