YotaTech does Alaska! - Official Thread.
Judging by the amount of discussion going on in another thread regarding this, it should probably have a thread of it's own.
If you are interested in travelling some of the most scenic and beautiful country in the world with fellow YotaTechies, post here and discuss supply/cost needs and what period will work best for you.
I'm personally very excited to see this take place, as I am planning to take the 4Runner deeper into Alaska this year and it would be amazing to travel it with other Yota junkies.

Oh by the way... Just for the reality factor...
From my home town of Rancho Cucamonga, CA (near Los Angeles) to Anchorage, AK... It is 3660.34 miles, with a travel time of 63 hours and 27 minutes. So that means basically a week drive one way driving everyday sun up to sun down.
Haha i would have to do an oil change before the trip, once while up in AK, and once when i get home!
This doesnt mean im out, but it would be one helluva road trip!

Ya, as i had posted i would love to be in on this trip, about a year out also would work very well for me, i like the Spring idea, although i think calrockx meant to say spring of 2006. We should try to get people start thinking about it also, one thing we would need is a place to meet up there or close to there, someone's house as a base camp for like one day, something like that. That would be the best trip though, i agree.

As was posted in the other thread, magazines would probably be all over this, mabye even toyota itself for a new TRD propaganda, with this could come sponsoring and many other advantages, lets hope we can get this off the ground, it would be the greatest trip ever!!!

I’d be interested in something like this as long as it’s at least a year or maybe even 2 years out. I think the 07 year would be the best. That would give people plenty of time to plain and save for the trip. This would be a very costly trip so a lot of planning would have to be made.
I’m in GA so MapQuest says its 76 hours and 4327.74 miles for me.

Well I would be up for this too, Would want to do it so we are out of Alaska sometime in mid to late September. As much as I will enjoy the country, the weather is the concern with winter looming over our head.
Where would the meet up be on this? Those from California would almost be in Alaska if those from the east went north to join them.
I noticed there are about 5 of us that would be able to join up in the Midwest in the MN/ND area as they come through my home town on the way north.
Yotaman, your route takes you right into a link up with me. Mapquest Directions
Would we want to look at Vancouver or Seatle as a link up?
We gonna try and get a good representation of each generation Yota on this trip? If so, sign up my first generation.
I leave for Alaska today myself, so I will be off-line for 3 weeks.

Bear in mind this is most commonly a trip that Americans take when they are retired and in a large RV.

Ah yes, but a YT convoy could see much cooler parts of the trip RV's can't if they want.
The RV'ers hit the tourist traps and miss the hidden spots locals know about.

I would like some ideas for east coast members OTHER than a DRIVE to a meeting place.
This WOULD HAVE to be filmed and made to a movie. How freaking great would it be to see so many people with the same intrests meet up and go somewhere?
The idea from http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0389326/ (Endless Summer)
Would there be an invite to other yota boards?
See 100+ Yotas on a road at one time like the bikers do on their journeys.

Mapquest won't do it for me anymore. I know to Barrow there is no road and would have to take a ferry or something. I researced it with the other thread.

I was thinking......
It would be better to travel to larger cities and trek from there with more/less capable rigs just in case. The law of numbers plays into this.
2007 sounds nice, but may be too far away to keep the excitement alive.
There would have to be tons of money spent on PM just to make the trip.
I know I'd need to carry extra fuel and could use some expertise, others may need a spare or two.
I would take 1-2 months leave of absence from work for this.
We all come from different fields of emplyment and some have advantage of knowing a lot. If there was a first aid need on a dark stretch of road, a doctor would be nice, or a minor run in with the law, such as speeding.
(We can do like they do on West Coast Choppers, and show them we are filiming and making something of this and have to make a deadline and they may let someone go.)
