That was my second longest non-stop. My longest was Seattle to Dallas in 42 hours. I was seeing things by the time I pulled in Dallas, cars that weren't there, pedestrians in the freeway lanes, etc. More dangerous, I wasn't seeing things that were there Now I figure I am good for about 16 hours or so before I MUST take a break.

ROB, I am young and I can tell you right now, I would never be able to drive 20+ hours without some rest. I wouldn't even attempt it. Now 42 hours?! You were seriously out of your mind!
I am a big guy and I honestly can only last a about five hours driving in my truck. My legs start to get cramp up after a while and gets really uncomfortable and unsupportable. With some short stops inbetween, I can pull 15 hours of driving in one day with my truck.
The day I do go to WA, I am going to take it slow.
I'm sure there is tons of scenery to see along the way so I will take advantage of that.
See you soon.

I was 29 when I attempted that. Never again. I had six days off and needed two in Dallas, no money for flying Plus, I had a young lady with me who was supposed to share the driving but ended up not... I won't do it again... by the time I pulled into the hotel, I was so sleep deprived that things were growing out of the pavement in front of my eyes.
Do take your time. There's a LOT of cool stuff between AZ and here and it's ALL worth seeing I will take more time on my next trip.

Late August and early September are likely your best bet for dry weather, but it's also smoggiest and the trails get closed due to fire danger, although it's nothing like what you are familar with fire danger wise. It's relative I guess...
If you can stand the rain, then April is beautiful, green and clean.

I go through dry weather 365 days of the year here in PHOENIX. I think I'd like to be around different weather every once in a while.
Rain is not a problem what-so-ever. As a matter of fact, I love rain, and I love mud too!
If I would everchoose to move to WASHINGTON, it would certainly be because of the weather. Ironic, I know.
Maybe I'll see you over there next APRIL.
