WATTORA Naches Trail Run

Greetings!

Well, WATTORA ran the Naches this past weekend. The weather was fine and the trees were tight. There was only a little body damage - nothing major.

Those of you in Washington State may already know of this trail. It is tight (maintained by the short wheel base crowd) and demanding. Not so much in the way of very technical obstacles, but demanding in that it requires your full attention. Obstacles come at you one after another. If your mind wonders, you will most likely take home some damage. There are several off camber dips and a couple of fun hill climbs. If you want to have some fun, spend a day on the Naches! You’ll get that big, sloppy grin on your face that only comes from success in the face of a challenge.

Most of the people who took pictures are still up on the hills exploring and wheeling. Once they return and get cleaned up, I expect to see some pictures. I will post them if I see some good ones. I got a couple of cool pictures of smr4runner playing in the trees. I’ll try to post those this evening.

-Cheers!

Pics, pics, we need pics

Sounds like a good time Gene.
That trail can bite you as you mentioned if you are not on the ball.

I still don't know how I came through it without a scratch.
I think the trees knew if they bit me, I'd whip out the Porter Cable and whack 'em on their trunks where it counts

Cool, looks like Mike has a Slee Off Road Hi-Lift mount like mine.

I don't remember driving under that tree. That must have blown over there since I ran the trail October of 2000.

This one was the only one we had to drive under, but there were several freshly cut trees that had once blocked the trail. Some were really tight to drive through! It's a bit unsettling to know that you *MUST* fold in your side mirrors! Heh-heh.

When I first saw his runner I thought it was your runner Corey. Very similar looking.

It's near the end of the trail, the trail goes on for about another hour from there.

Hey fellas,
Well I washed the rig after work today. Surveyed the damage. The only one that I have is that one in the drivers rear corner.

Shane. I didnt know you were the same Shane from the forum. Hope I didn't hold you up too much on the trail.
In fact you had a great view of me hitting my drivers rear side as you were following me at the time.

Gene. I can't thank you enough for keeping me in mind after the pre run. I still have perma grin. Oh and my steering wheel no longer feels like a resin bag (the hands were sweatin' all day).

It was cool hanging out at the non-burning, garbage filled campfire shootin the ˟˟˟˟. There were some good laughs. Although I still don't understand Rob and his boot story.
Oh and that friendly mouse seemed to have ventured into my engine bay as I found massive mouse tracks on the hoses and engine block.

The only pics I have are of the group airing down before heading on the trail and a few in the meadow where Rob was fixing his front end. Can't wait to see Donna pics when they return.

I have to say I had such a great time. I Met some really cool people from all walks of life and hope to see them again on the next run.

Hey! Shane - I too didn't realize that you were THAT Shane! You didn't even say anything about YotaTech! Heh-heh.

Mike, I hope the damage wasn't as narly once you washed it. Do you have an estimate on repair?

It's funny what your mind can do to you. I was pulling up close to a tree and thought, "Oh, I'll just let the tree push back my mirror." Then, a split second later, "What the hell are you thinking!!!" Heh-heh.

There were some damn fine people on that run. I really enjoyed the time spend both on and off the trail.

Hey Gene,
Im going to take it to Thoroughbred Auto Body in Kent when I decide when to fix it. They have repainted a couple of my past cars and do a prestine job. Im not sure why I haven't rushed to get this done. Usually I freak out about damage to my cars. Maybe its like showing off your battle wounds.
