San Diego - table mountain \ mountain spring
10am March 31st leave san carlos (east SD) for table mnt. Bringing pollo adobado and a charcoal grill + homemade salsa + beer, pm me for directions to my pad if coming from out of town (PAT) and let me know if you want chicken.
I think tbl mnt is blm land and we can shoot there. We shot some trap and .22 at camp last time and will do it again if it is ok. (we pick up all our shells and tread lightly).
Agenda: We will run Devil's Canyon then head over to... (just kidding) Maybe stop off at Jacumba and shoot on the way, maybe go see what the deal is with South Side, head to Table Mnt, wheel for a while let Mike take us to new places, look at corrizo gorge (if visible) find a camp spot, BBQ and light a fire.
This guy has a writeup on the mountain spring trail, sounds cool.

Also, has anyone been to mountain spring before?

the spring is a fun trail, lots of cliff side pucker moments and deffinite possible body damage hugging the inside. last time i was there saw aabout 12-15 borregos. very cool.
the trail going out between the "i" and "n" in mountains is the trail i want to explore. there is a bitchen camp site over there if we run out of time and stay on that side.
this weekend??? i cant really decide just yet as i just got back from a butt load of drivin, but i too want to get back out there.

Mike, did you still want to make this trip? I am going to see if Juan and Bryan want to come camp again sometime soon, but need to give them heads up a few weeks in advance (especially Juan since he is in LA). Let me know

^ I don't really know about table mountain. Mike was saying 4x4 and sliders required but I have never been there. You should try the bird man road on the south side of inkopah exit. Its on the map in this thread. Maybe you should do the 4x4 swap and then you would be all good, lots of guys on ttora have done it.

My buddy Juan from LA area might come down next weekend. If he does, we are gonna go out that direction. We can start another trip plan if this is too short notice for anyone interested. And as always aside from wheeling we are gonna do some trap shooting, drinking, BBQing, and a big ass fire at night. Just a heads up in case anyone is not comfortable with any of the above.

LAME. more rules. This was one of the few places you were able to go and not worry about breaking rules. I'll have to get a permit then I guess. But, I will be hitting up the other side of the freeway this run which seems to be less traveled than south side.

just got off the phone with Derick who's number was posted up there in one of the links from Marc. Sounds like him and his other 11 jeep buddies were rock crawling off the trails. No wonder the ranger is pissed. That really upsets me since this is one of my favoirte spots. . It sounds to me like they ranger was giving them a hard time because they were off the trail, I've never been hastled out there by rangers or BP before. I'm not really worried about what he has posted, prabably more likely they were doing something they weren't supposed to and hopefully they won't do that again.
