Hello my name is mike and im planning to swap a toyota 4.7l V8 (2UZ) out of a sequioa into my T100. Im a new member and i want to share and learn
If this post actually goes up, ill upload some pics
Looks like it worked. but i mispelled "swap" lol is there any way to change the thread title?
anyways this is my baby
1993 T100 single cab 5 speed 4x4
rusty but trusty
I bought it in 2016 with a blown 3.0l motor
yanked another 3.0 from a 4runner just to get it up and running
About the same time that i got it running, my daily driver actually broke down, so the T100 became my daily and has been my daily for years and never let me down
I love the truck but it always felt underpowered, slow, and there is so much room in that engine bay. a V8 belongs in there
also recently i got my regular daily driver up and running so now i can put the T100 under the knife
started looking around for any tundra/sequioas for cheap and i found this one for a good price
ive only ever done direct motor replacements in vehicles, so this will be my first time doing something like this. i have a lot to learn
the major thing about this swap is that i want to keep the 5spd 4x4 transmission that came with the truck. so i need to get a custom adapter plate or bellhousing kit to mate the 4.7l motor to the 3.0l trans.
ive been calling/emailing around to every shop i can think of - LC Engineering, KS Racing, Advance Adapters, Trail Gear, they all said they dont do that kind of thing. the guy at LC recommended that i call Chilkat Design, but i havent heard back from them yet
Its been over a year since i got the sequoia to swap the V8 into my T100, and after i took the 3.0 out ive made zero progress because life
now its time to get it done, i got the sequoia back to my house and half garage, ready to take the V8 out. the adapter kit to mate the 2UZ to my R151 transmission should be arriving early next week (thank you again for the suggestion rattlewagon)
while im waiting for the adapter my plan is to get the UZ in the engine bay of my T100, figure out all the wiring plumbing needed to get the engine running, so i can get rid of the sequoia as soon as possible because space is currently an issue where im living.
I was looking at this "thing" on the passenger side of the T100 frame and im not quite sure what it is...its got wires going to it, power steering lines and brake lines. I cannot figure out what the purpose of this is? anyone see this before? will i still need this with the new power steering pump on the 2UZ?
engine is in the engine bay, just sitting on pieces of wood for now until the adapter kit comes in.
hey Mike, I'm doing an extremely similar swap, I have a 96 4x4 5 spd, with the r150f, I also have an 04 sequoia I'll be using the 2uz from, I have not started my swap yet, but will be in the next few months, I plan to have all the parts I need before beginning the process, and I was wondering if you could tell me if yours has room for the factory 2uz clutch fan with the factory t100 radiator, and if you are leaving your trans in factory location. I'll be using the same xat adaptor plate for reference. Thank you in advance, I hope we can both lend advice to eachother during this process
So i was talking to the guy at XAT racing and he said the simplest way to do the swap is to leave the trans in the stock location so that you dont have to mess around with your driveshaft length or shifters going into the cab, and just let the engine sit where it sits. which made total sense at the time
so i did that, but now that its sitting in the engine bay it looks way too far forward, and there is no way that the stock clutch fan will fit in there. i didnt have time to test fit the stock T100 radiator yet, but just eyeballing it, it will be a tight squeeze
your question is a great segway into the next thing i wanted to say anyways
once i know everything is good and the truck runs and drives with the 2UZ, i want to actually shift the drivetrain back about 3-4 inches, because with the engine in this current position it just looks like its gonna be extremely front heavy.
i know that involves a lot of work and ive never done anything like that before, but ill cross that bridge when i come to it

that's what I plan to do as well, is leave it in the factory location, I'm going to see if I can fit the clutch fan, but I believe I will have to use a thin efan with the stock radiator. Is there a way I can reach you on Facebook? May be easier to talk about the issues and solutions we come across
