Mystery Plug Next to Oil Filter

Hey y'all, I am trying to identify a plug on the passenger side of the motor that I broke while changing the oil filter. Truck is an 88 Toyota 4x4. I was trying to unplug it to avoid damaging it while taking off the oil filter and instead I ripped the whole thing out and it broke at the wire. I pushed it back into it's spot and it does not seem to affect the truck at all. Just trying to figure out what it is. It sits directly to the left of the oil filter. The picture is dark, but if somebody knows what it is they should be able to identify it. Thanks in advance.

Thanks, after a quick search I think that is what it is....and it ain't cheap. The whole plastic part came out and I can see where it broke the wire. I just stuck it back on there and it stayed...well I didn't check it after I drove it, but I didn't have any while driving. Check engine light did come on, but still no problems. I will mess with it tomorrow, and take more pics to explain. I was thinking I might could just solder the wire back, but I got to figure out how to fix the plastic part. Thanks for the info.

I have spliced and fixed the wire in the past with no issues. It is a shielded wire. If the clip is broke, may need to hit the bone yard for a replacement.

Not sure if the plastic clip broke or not. Just has a wire sticking out of it and the other end looks like it broke flush with the sensor. Not sure if I can get to it to splice it or not.

Thanks again.

I'm looking at the cheap $10-$20 ones on ebay for a temporary fix, but they all look like they are for 3.0 and I have a 22RE. I'm assuming they won't interchange, but looking to see if somebody knows different.

I am not sure if the 3.0 would swap over or not. I would be interested in finding out as well.

The ebay fitment chart says it doesn't and after more looking I am having trouble finding a cheap replacement for the 2.4. I'm still not having any issues with the truck, but I think I may pull mine off tomorrow and see if I can splice the wire.

Hey Terry, I found a used one for my truck for $25 so I went on and ordered that. But in the meantime I decided to take this one off. The wire had not broken inside the sensor, it had just pulled completely out. So I stuck it back in and super glued the plastic piece back, installed it, and hooked it up and no more check engine light. Seems to have fixed it, but I am still gonna put this other one on. What about a new wire? It's easy to find one for the 3.0, but Toyota says that I have to buy a whole new wiring harness to get one for the 2.4. No Toyota's in any bone yards around here, so..........
