New to site... Searched n couldn't find any post relating to my issue

Removed the h6054 halogen sealed beam . Which worked 100%

Picked up pair of 45wat LED headlights...

Suposto b plug n play. Low beams work.
When I want high beams to come on... The low beam
Bulbs go to very dim and that's it.

I tried messin round with the 3 pin connector.

Ground is center.

Any help?

Perhaps it is just corrosion on the headlight plugs.

It could also be a poor fit on the light socket plug.

You did check your new lights worked before installing them??

They could be bad out of the box.

Also remember our headlights are a switched ground .

Corrosion on the headlight switch contacts or wear might be a issue now that the current draw is much lower.

Just some ideas to think about

checked on different truck.. Not Toyota... Headlights worked proper. Bench tested lights. Worked..

Had combo switch off n opened. No corrosion. Still looked new

Built my self a harness for headlights. Pretty much 100% followed instructions on link

Low beams work fine...

But that switched ground for hi beams...
I can't figure that out

How do I get a power signal??

 

See schematic below.
With switched ground, as soon as you turn headlight switch on, headlight relay turns on and provides +12V to "common" pin 3 of headlight bulb.

Switched-ground means you control which pin of the bulb is connected to ground, while the common (pin3) has steady +12V.
From schematic:
When stalk dimmer is in LOW position contacts 13 and 6 are connected, so Low beam filament is connected to ground through pin 1 (low filament).
When stalk dimmer is on high beam, pins 5 and 13 are now connected (see red trace on schematic), connecting 2 of bulb (high filament) to ground.

LOL!

Simplest way to convert to switched positive is to buy the H4 conversion harness.

HOWEVER, you need to make sure that your LED lights' polarity is such that:

Common pin (pin3) is designed to be the ground side,
Pins 1 & 2 are designed to be positive side.

If you can post schematic/instructions for your LED light, we can help.

Would this work.....

I take the existing combi switch. Re locate it to somewhere under dash. And leave it connected.

Get another combi switch n wire it in so that I can get a power signal for the high beam relay

 

It's not that simple. I'm electrically-savvy but I wud not even do that. Messy. Spend $34 on H4 conversion harness, and keep it simple and robust.

What year truck are you doing this on?
I am pretty sure the lights you have aren't DOT compliant.
one reason I went with truck lite LED headlights..

I read this thread, watched videos and still can’t figure out what is going on with my head lights. I’m not electrical savy so I initially bought the harness which does not work I get highway beam only.

I went and bought a relay and did the wiring myself now I only have low beams

if I throw an amp meter to it I get 12+ bolts to the low beam but only 1ish bolts to the high beam. I’m 3 hours in trying to figure this out

anyone have any ideas ?

1) You threw a VOLTMETER, or at worst, a multimeter to it.
2) You measured +12 VOLTS DC, not bolts.

Does the relay have 2 outputs, one for low beams, one for high, if it goes direct to the bulb? Or does it feed the switch on the steering column? If so, the switch may be bad.
Check that the three wires to the bulbs are correct. One ground, two possible hot leads. Make sure they go to the right pins. IE Ground on the connector goes to the ground on the bulb, and so forth.

I know, I'm a picky SOB, but I worked electronics my entire career.
I do wish you good luck! Electronics is very hard to troubleshoot from a distance, you know?
