Headlight stalk issue

Headlight stalk issue
Hey guys, im currently in the process of re wiring the yota and came across a little problem. The issue is that my light control switch (the three way selector on the end of the stalk [off/tails/headlights]) seems to be faulty. After looking a little further into the issue it seems that the 'light control switch' is independent of the combination switch that sits behind the wheel. This makes sense as everything else works (high beams, indicators). I know how to clean the combination switch, although I can't seem to (if it is possible at all) gain access to the light control switch at the end of the stalk.
I have a feeling I may have to just replace the stalk itself but maybe there is a trick that i don't know of to solve this issue? Like 90% of toyota electrical problems it is probably just worn/dirty contacts so If i could get acces to it then it would save some dosh. I might even just relocate the headlight on/off switch to somewhere else.

You don't have to remove the wheel. Remove the black trim and you'll see the entire stalk assembly is held in with a few screws and a small wire harness.
My headlights would flicker or not turn on at all because the "cap" on the end of my stalk was missing and allowed dirt and dust to wear away the thin copper contacts in the 3 position switch. Tried graphite and teflon lubes, but it didn't help much. Replaced it with a newer stalk assembly and it works fine now.

Yeah i know i can replace the stalk, I was just hoping i could get the cap off, clean the contacts and re install the cap. I am not really interested in speding money on the fix haha. If i can't I was just going to run lights off the fuel pump output (to the hlight relay) so that lights are on whenver the fuel pump is running.
