I think that's the same place I was looking at - where did you move the ignitor to?

The ignitor is still there just below the compressor.

Hmmmm - which compressor do you have? I got the bigger one (RDCKA).

Also, any writeup or anything on how to remove the third members? I'm having a shop set up the gears/lockers in the third, but need to save the $$$$$ by taking them out myself.

Any help is appreciated - starting to wonder if I bit off more than I can chew!

My compressor is pretty old, maybe about 9 years old I guess. So they might be bigger now

I had my lockers installed on the truck by a trusted mechanic, so I've never removed my 3rd.

I'm considering moving my compressor now that I'm rearranging my whole engine compartment to put in a 3.4. I'd like to get it somewhere cooler, (like away from the engine) but I'm still searching myself. I thought about under the rear seat but it can puke gear oil sometimes and that would be smelly and messy or in the bed somewhere. Under the truck would be cool but there's a lot of water exposure under there and I wouldn't want to be stuck in a water crossing with no air for the lockers.

You guys with 3.4's make me seriously ill. Not only do you have more power and get better gas mileage, but there's actually more room in your engine compartment!

NOT FAIR!!!

I mounted mine on the passengerside of engine compartment, The small virtical space near the power antenna.
just pull the relays there and mount them to another area or let them lay.
Also its near the battery.
I spent a time making it look nice, Feels like I wasted my time though, Blew out the ARB right away about 20k fell apart since the locker pins are weak.
Im on diff #4 now.

I took out the cruise control assembly, and fit mine there. Kinda of hard to see in this pic, but follow the blue line to the drivers side. Didn't have to relocate coil or other components. I had some trouble with oil leaking from the compressor when I put it on it's side (on side in pic). Have since changed position, not placement. Fits just barely vertical, and that is with 1/4" rubber washers underneath bracket to help isolate vibration.

Remove rear diff: Drain it first. You must pull the axles out just enough to get the diff out. Remove wheels, drum brakes, and then the four bolts per side holding axle to housing. Then pull. Probably want to replace the axle seals and check bearings while your at that point, so just pull the axles out all the way and set aside. All this is assuming you have a V6 3rd.

Undo ABS sensor, all those tiny nuts around the diff and four at the driveshaft. Pull to break the RTV seal, and watch out... it is fairly heavy.

Good luck.

I got it in there where Mt Goat has his. Looks pretty good.

Got the front and rear installed. Major air leak IN the rear. No leaks at all for the front. Will have to drop the rear (again) and replace the seal assembly - I think the little copper tube got damaged during install.

Was supposed to do it tonight, but it appears ARB may have sent an RD33 seal assembly (not the RD23). Aaaargh! Guess I'll be 'wheellling Saturday with just the front locker (again). Bummer....
