Stay on top with maintenance
Hey guy I wanted to give a shout out there to remind everybody to keep up with their maintenance. I didn't rotate my tires and they were shot. I have 107K miles and only changed the fuel filter once. Never Seafoamed it either.
My tires were humming so loudly that I had no choice to go in to get them rotated. I had Cooper SST's. They got cupped very badly. I rotated them and had a raod trip to go on and by the time I got back they were much quieter. But the damage was done, excessive wear. Had I rotated them when I should have I could have gotten alot more time out of them and without the hum. I learned my lesson 700 bucks later for a new set of BFG AT KO's.
The lack engine performance is alot like weight gain. It happens so slowly you don't even notice until you look in the mirror and say to yourself what happened.
I take care of my truck but sometime these little things slip by. I thought I would do some maintenence and Seafoam my engine thru the various vacuum lines leading into the intake. My trucked smokes for about 30 minutes. Then I changed my fuel filter. After all that I took for a spin and man I really gained some peppiness and smoothness back to my engine. I could not believe that my engine performance was declining so gradually that I didn't notice the need for this maintenance. But I'm glad it's done and my baby runs like a champ.
So just a friendly reminder for everyone that might be putting something off for a couple of months to "git her done", and make your ride happy again.

How often should auto tranny fluid be changed. I have a 2002 with 55k miles and have not had it done. It is the one maintenance thing I worry about. The manual is not very clear when to change it.
Thanks,
Steve

im not sure when my tranny fluid was last changed. the guy who changed my oil laughed at me and said i was dumb because i said "it was changed not that long ago" and its like a darkish purple.
but i think that purple is from toyota's special fluid.? not sure.
umm also, when should you get your tires rotated? how many miles? i know the place you get your tires from should do it for free not sure...
also how do i change my fuel filter? i dont know if its Ever been changed????

Out here in Southern Arizona, every year (12K ~ 15K+-).
No need to flush it.
Drain it, drop the pan, inspect for crap, replace filter, re-install pan and fill up the tranny fluid.
If you do it before the fluid is french fried and doing it often enough, you don't have to worry about the fluid in the TC that won't drain out.
Flushing has it's problems, especially once you get some miles on the vehicle and it has been flushed or changed before.
