Haha thanks man. I made the form of the bottom and made a big square of fiberglass that im cutting up to get it all to fit perfectly so I used the tape to hold it up while I use more fiberglass and resin to patch it all together

IDK if this applys to any of us on yota tech but my buddy has an 05 XRU and he says the cheapest mod he ever did was an EVO Mod. I would like to see if anybody else has ever done this on their Yota.

I decided to make a set of door panels out of some 1/8 in. aluminum diamond plate. The plate was on the top of the flip up tool boxes from a utility bed that came on my truck. Unfortunately the plate wasn't wide enough to make a one piece panel, but I'm going to have a buddy TIG them together for me.

I stripped the vinyl off my door panels and used it as a template.

This is the bottom section marked for cutting.

Top section marked for cuts, minus the hole for the electric window switch.

Door handle hole.

Door handle hole knocked out and ready for filing.

Finished product. I beveled the edges with a bastard file.

Finished pair (I did the driver's side a few days ago). Going to fill the old screw hole with fiberglass resin and paint with plastikote bed liner.

I thought we were on the cheap mod section? Cut out gasket out of cerial box etc...lightly coat with grease...install, replace often.

FYRme I REALLY like this! Nice clean job! I also like what you did over the radio area (well, actually gauges go where radio WAS and radio is where...never mind....you already know). Looks like a nice custom piece. I think the gauges would be a little our of the line of site for me but to each his own. What did you fab that panel from?

Made a GPS mount out of a "No Smoking" sign I scavenged from work. A grinder and table vice was all it took to do the cuts and bends. Mounts to the radio bolt, works like a charm!

Oh, and a radio remote mount using a cordless phone clip and one of the dummy buttons in the center console! Super glue and some sticky door insulation!

Cut out the grille to make room for some $25 wal-mart fog lights. They are brighter than the high beams!

Did you cut out the entire grill? Its kinda hard to see in the pics. The fogs look like they were meant to be there

Here is a before and after. I just took a small key hole saw and cut out the black section with the emblem. I had originally put steel mesh in behind the lights but liked it better without it.. The lights fit perfect!

I would run the mesh... And the skidplate.
You just know that without them on there, SOMETHING is gonna jump up and break the snot out of something important.
Murphy's Law, and all that.
The lights look good though, I almost like that better than my solution.
I made a plate they mount on where the license plate goes, and that hangs off the bottom of the light mount.
I'll see about getting a picture of it.

I undterstand what your saying. Im not too fond of the factory skid plate. I may look into a aftermarket plate. My brother used to work at BudBuilt. He said they had some killer plates. But i might clean up the old one and paint eventually.

The radio is harder to reach now though. The panel is just a piece of 1/8" aluminum painted with black wrinkle finish paint. I also installed a led to come on when the electric fan comes on. So I'll know if I have over heating issues if the fan is running or not.
Stupid question: What happens to the truck if you accidentally kill the ignition while running down the highway?

Been thinking about doing this, but I don't want to worry if my dog hits the kill switch (or if I do ). Also, where would you hide a alternate kill switch for theft deterrents?

In my old integra I installed one in the rear ashtray since there was no smoking aloud. Worked pretty good too just reach your arm down the back of the center console and flip it on or off then close the little door.

I know you guys are into mag lights but head lamps are great. Light weight, hands free, and L.E.D. bright. Here is a cheap one I bought at wal-mart for $15. They make some rechargeable just plug into you cig-lighter. I know some guys that are cave surveyors and swear by them.
