Hey Ian:
the 1/4" sockets I have won't fit.
I have a couple sets of these ratcheting wrenches, I think I got at harbor freight.
a little bit spendy but I use them all the time

Here are the wiring disconnects im working on. I got them from radio shack. I know they're some sort of computer connection but my driver door has 20 wires running through and it the only connector i found to take that many, and also they're metal so they'll last pretty long.

@six_stringer: careful using those, as they'll want to rust. and why 20 wires? are there like 10 things, all with their own ground? good work, though

About the door connector, I was going to say the same about the corrosion. He could probably POR-15 the housing, the pins not sure about. I am going to do the same for my doors(tube door discos since i have pwr windows and mirrors) but i am using superseals by tyco, they are weather tight.

rb: i suggest getting an extra door-side connector for when the doors are off. seal up the wire end and put them on to protect the truck-side connector. also, where are you getting your connectors from?

Ian, they make actual caps for the connector when unplugged, and that is what i plan on doing.

Yeah I'm not too sure either, I haven't looked at a wiring diagram yet or anything but i coulted and theres about 20 wires. I could leave out the window locks and power mirrors and stuff but I'd rather leave it all up just cause you never know.

And RBX, I ay hold off for a nibble on my disconnects cause i like the TYCos

I did a cheap mod the other day on my '89 4Runner: removed the "buzzer!" It's underneath the steering column.

I don't know about you guys, but those buzzers in the old Toyotas drive me crazy when I leave my door open!

Sure does. That buzzer just makes noise to let you know that your key is still in ignition when your door is open. It's just a "warning" buzzer.

I know, I better not forget my keys in there.

You could always take the buzzer apart and bend the little metal flaps.

I'm thinking of modifying a warning buzzer or dinger from another car to work in place of the stock one. Anyone have any ideas?

What's the point of "modding" the buzzer?

Doesn't the dome light stop working after you unhook it?
