new to the site. thanks for the ideas everybody, great stuff.
just picked up a 94 pickup and i set up the 2nd retrieval hook, mag lite mod tomorrow. Also wired in a thermometer/clock which turned out to be a cheap POS. Fabbed my own front blinkers into double-tube front bumper, and added a couple fog lights in between the retrieval hooks.
on my old 91 i had tractor implement lights mounted under the hitch wired to a temp switch to make up for bum reverse lights. also custom mudflaps (thanks to the california highway patrol) and i also made a custom shifter knob where i could fit (and change out) any bottle cap in the top.
Pictures of both coming soon.

I put in some 4X6 speakers, dual USB charger ports wired directly to my aux fuse box with a switch, new LED blinker, and of course the famous Mag light mod.
I'm working on quick disconnects for my doors so its easier to throw on my Wab Fab tube doors

Drmix, I'll give you that. I trust in the wabbit, but there's nothing like being able to say you made it yourself.
My favorite mod so far... $60 for a hurculiner DIY roll on bedliner, but I have the benefit of a family owned hardware store. Retail is 80+. The gallon can says it will do two coats on a 6ft bed, however after 3 coats in my yota, I still have 1/3 of a gallon left. Time to paint my accessories and rollbar in super tough bedliner!

*puzzled look as well
If you have the hinges laying around, a buddy of mine drilled out the pin and used retainer pins for a hitch in each one. The wabfab kit comes with 2 sets of door-side hinges and one body-side set. IMO, wabbit saves the time and hassle with a quality product. And wabbit if you happen to read this and want a new england sales rep......

That is very true! I usually would rather at least try to do it myself first but gotta support the wab! And also I'm just using these do-it-yourself wiring disconnects for the door wiring. I know there are disconnects deeper inside the kicker panel but i thought it'd be more fun to do it my way and plus i'm gonna mke it easier to take off on the trail.

Im sure it wouldnt be too hard to do. Just gotta find a male and female connector then repin each side of it. It would be pretty sick to be able to disconnect your factory doors and throw on some tube doors in under a minute

The cheapest thing I have done to my 87 is put the factory hitch from my 94 4runner on (with just a little modification) and rattle can the wheels and grill satin black. The wheels are the stock wheels from my old 94, and the painted grill turned out better than I thought it would.
More of an accessory than a mod, but my skinny 12" tool box is perfect. Looked everywhere for a skinny one, finally found it at Lowe's. Can't remember the price, but around $100 I think.
I found a bench a year ago in great condition, and that is my back's favorite purchase.
I found a cupholder off of a grocery cart fits pretty well in the notch in the bench.

poor man's tuffy security console
I think I am into this for less than $10, some of the junk had been laying around forever;
Decided to make a 'Poor man's 'Tuffy' Security box.
-.50 cal ammo can (have a few laying around)
- 1" alum angle
- 3/4" barrel key assembly ($8.50 on eBay)
-about 15-20 min.
Decided to this route as the old eye bolt and padlock just makes for one more rattle.
I will make a padded cover for the lid later..

certainly not professional but it will help elbows from getting whacked really back while out and about.
cut the handle off:
used some padding from an old headrest, some wood anchors:
ended up with this:
need to pull it apart and paint it with some Crapoleum Hammered paint or something.

don't do the version on the left, I failed in that attempt, Mr. Stubs version on pirate works awesome take about 10 minutes to swap the doors:
old version of what I had a few years ago
If wabbit had them for a 1st Gen truck, I would go that route...
