Questions for those who have rhino/line-x'd their interior floors
I took my carpet out several years ago because it was constantly filthy and it was worn out.
All this time I keep meaning to get it rhino lined, but have never had it done.
First off, is there a ball park figure on cost to have it done to a 4runner. I plan to remove the interior panels and all but the driver's seat if I take it in.
Second, how well does it insulate from heat. The heat from my header and the transmission is getting really annoying. The transmission hump is hot to the touch and just radiates heat all around me. I rode in the driver's side rear for a while on a long road trip a year or so ago and the floor got so hot it actually melted part of the rubber sole of my shoe.
Finally, does it do as good of a job as the pad and carpet did of dampening the noise?
The reason I ask is because If the lining doesn't block significant noise and heat I might consider having sound dampening stuff and vinyl floor liner put in instead.

Line-x, Rhinoliner etc is pretty expensive to pay a company to do. Like $300+. For that you can still find new vinyl mats for 1st gen Runners and you can dynamat (or use the etrerna- bond roofing stuff from Home Depot) underneath. I have old original vinyl mats in my 89 4Runner and love it so much more than carpet. Worst case it can be removed and hosed off.
Bedliner is only cost effective if you DIY. I think it's about $90 a gallon.
Here they are $233 for a complete set:

I dont know about the 4runner, but you should have heat shields underneath your truck to keep the actual floor from gettin that hot.
But like the other guys said bed liner doesnt help for sound dampening. But it does work for cheapin your truck cleaner. I did the bed and whole interior of my truck a few years ago. An I just got the cheap stuff at o'reillys in a gallon an a few rattle cans. Works great other then were my floorboard rusted through from the underside. It seems like i used 2gallons to to by 7ft bed in interior and by buddies wrangler.
Good luck...

Bob, on average they run anywhere between $100-$200 for a 1 gallon pail. They don't list prices because you can only get them through a dealer like Jegs, summit, eastwood, etc... That's why there is a diff. in prices. Most hot rod shops will carry them also. Prices also vary depending on what formula you go with. How many pails depends on what all you want to cover and how thick you want it. You can also paint over it too. No need to spend on the gun and all the equip., just rent from you local hard. store. Cleanup is easy, as it is all water base. Does not emit any fumes and dries fast. I have on occasion seen them go on sale for $89+. Also, some of those companies I mentioned use coupons also to get the price down. In comparison to the price of DIY bed liner stuff, I think it is comparable. But this is just my $0.02. And no, I don't work for them either!
