PCV Oil Catch Can

Does anyone use an oil Seperator or PCV catch can on their rig? Its supposed to catch all the oil that blows through the PCV valve and trap it before it enters the intake manifold and get burned up in your engine. Just wondering what people have heard about these, my buddy runs one on his H22 Accord.

Yeah I put one on my 5VZFE, I guess my 01 engine is still too new (<40k miles) because I don't get much of anything in it. I've never had to empty it. Mine is on the back line that dumps before the throttle body, that was the one I was concerned about.

From: Bryan Tx,
Here is a pic of the one I have on my 05 Tacoma 4.0. It is billet 6061 aluminuim made bt Accurate Machine Works & IIRC it cost around $130. Works very well, I dump it at every oil change (5K miles) and it is uaually about 1/2 way full. It is my opinoin & not a fact that the home made water seperators don't work. Here is a link to the Manufacturer. http://www.accmachtech.com/catchcans.asp

Interesting, that's a nice one for sure. You have many miles on that engine?

I guess I'll find out the first time I remove the intake tube and look at the throttle plate. I have seen some guys that get a lot in their home made catch cans, but they may have had a blow-by problem or something.

50K miles on my truck, but I put the can on it shortly after I bought the truck new. All engine's have some blow by, not just worn out ones. Mine hooks up in line between the pcv valve & intake.

I guess so, but not all blow by is a blow by "problem" Yeah mine too. So you didn't care about the other valve cover vent either?

I have an old jaguar and i use a couple glass fuel filters..works pretty well--or i may just have a crap load of blow by?? either way it is behind the venturi bridge and just gets washed down by the A/F mixture

IDK--i think it maybe a hybrid 2/4 stroke engine but it leaks so much i cant tell where the oil is going

It is my understanding that it never makes it that far, I'm catching it stait out of the PCV valve so it takes the other vent out of the equasion.

Yeah I really don't understand the system, for all I know one side is positive (crank case ventilation) and one side is negative.

All I knew was the other one was connected up on the other side (down stream) of the throttle body and I have water/meth injection that will clean out anything dumped in after the thottle body.
