Body Rust

So I have about an inch of rust coming up around the rear wheel wells. It has just slowly crept up and is now totally dissolved a lot of metel... This is typical if you can imagine it. Guy said he could fix it for 1400 bucks both sides. Is this worth it? I just want to wheel with this truck but want it sorta nice. He said he would just be sanding it down as much as he could not a full blown replacement so he said it'd come back. But I can't imagine it'd be this bad when it does. Has anyone done anything cheaper? Can anyone else think of anything creative?

Plastic flares would be the way I would go, but if you want something cheaper you can buy the flexible rubber flares you cut to fit. Fairly easy and looks pretty good.

the plastic flares would be ok but the rust will adventually keep going up... My question is if installed, would the replacement sheet metal pieces be expensive for labor?

Only way to stop the rust is to either cut it, grind it or scrape it off and repaint if you got if off and was only surface.

Then cover it with brushguards or soemthing.
