I have an 81 Toyota with the common V6/Landcruiser front brake upgrade, and I'm looking for wheels. Before I go on a wild goose chase for OG steelies (stock 15x6.5 wheels on a 79-85, possibly later), does anyone know for certain whether they will or won't clear the calipers, assuming no other mods?

 

Nobody's run into this before?

 

I bought a set of steelies off an 87 a month ago, and they did not fit. I just bought a set of four of the older steelies, and for the benefit of anyone searching the question and finding this thread, the answer is:

Yes, 79-85 steelies do clear the S12 (early V6 IFS) calipers and LC rotors on an early solid axle with no spacers or other modifications. Clearance looks to be at least 1cm.
No, 86-95 steelies do not, without other mods.

 

yeah the solid axle and IFS steelies might look the same but the back spacing is different

anyway, no they won't clear with out at least a 1" spacer at least from my experience..guess i used the bigger later IFS calipers
