T.A.G. Multicarrier rear bumper- opinions?

I'm looking to get a rear bumper with tire swing out for my 3rd gen 4runner, and came across Tactical Armor Group, who happens to make one, but for far less $ than CBI... Do any of you have one, and how do you like it/ hows the quality/etc...?

I have their front and rear bumper on my rig (also 3rd gen). I highly recommend this shop to anyone in the Southeast. I guess now I can no longer procrastinate on my build-thread. Ask for Kyle.

Couple thoughts. After about 2 months of thought and deliberation, I cut the spare tire mount off, and welded it back on at about 30degrees. This way the spare tire followed the body lines a little better and is nice and tight to the vehicle. I am much happier with it now. I know, I know..pics. Will work on it. I also cut the A-hoop off the front bumper and re-worked it. The hoop was 2"tubing and 90degree bends, which looked a bit too bulky. More Australian Outback, and less Pre-Runner style. I bent up 13/4 tubing with angles to follow the grill lines. Again, much happier.

Suggest these things to Kyle, or whatever your preferences are. He is very helpful and insightful. I will get off my ass and do my build-thread.

I have the rear bumper on my 2nd gen 4Runner. here's my opinions:

Its a good "platform" but is in no way perfect. The swing out locking system is extremely faulty, and cheap. They dont use a latch/lock system. its more of a pull up lever. The spring inside always wears out and it will eventually begin to swing out while you're driving. This happened to me twice, but luckily i had fabbed my own safety latch with a bike lock. so it didn't cause any damages.

TAG ( formerly KMA ) also has a crappy return time. It usually takes 3-4 months before you get your bumper.

I also bought mine used.

Haha ONLY if you buy new. I'm happy with my used one. Bought for 700 bucks and instant shipping! Buying new blows. this bumper isn't worth the 1100 bucks they advertise.

they look like a great product.

I know what you mean about hit and miss..The local guy that did my cage and front bumper is a great guy but his business practices were hit and miss. Take 3-4 times as long as estimated and some other issues with some group buys gone wrong.

Nope, this is the only incarnation of this business.

kenmtn.com it redirects you to Tactical Armor Group and googling kenmtn.com also shows links to Kennesaw Mountain..weird.

LOL. Terminator was in contact with a "Kyle" at KMA. It's the same company, no way is it a new business. And the fact that they're lying in their email makes me doubt their business practices have changed.

Nope. I guess I was the one who had a good experience. I didn't do a lot of research as to who they are/were. The shop is somewhat local, so didn't have any shipping cost on bumpers. There are not many local options. I'm happy with the bumpers, which I guess is what counts. Price was good, and finished on-time and on budget. Unusual for most of my ideas.

I would'nt buy it but I like the look and lines on that multi carrier... though I'd go without the swing out carrier...
the 'wincher" looks nice but I agree with a pp the hoops are too heavy looking...

you are correct, the end user's satisfaction is what is ultimately important.
Unfortunately it seems you are in the minority..

Any luck on starting that build thread of yours?
