Newbie here looking for info on 4x2 pickup 3.0 headers
Hi all, Im new here and ive been checking out some of the post on here and have been getting lots of helpful info. thanks to all. However im a little stuck. I own a 94 4x2 xtracab that im slowly fixing up as funds permit. I am wanting to install a set of headers. for the first part I do live in California so the smog laws are rough to say the least. ive looked at Doug Thorley 505-C kit but i am concerned on how the Pass side pipe crosses over to hook up with the cat. All the muffler shops are scared of it..my truck has two O2 sensors (one before and one after the cat) Acording to the so called rules the cat and sensors have to stay in the same location and then there is the issue of the crossover and it having enough clearance since mine is a 4x2..Does anyone have any imput to help clear this up and throw some info my way?

I think for the price you could pay for a set of headers, you can just have the exhaust custom fabbed from the back of the manifolds to the tip...
Not to mention getting a CARB.S approved system...
You have a 2WD, and 95% + the after market is geared to 4WD...
And the difference is a good 7" in the two...
Unless you have a pre-runner... But the only 2WD option was a 4Runner...
My money'd be on a whole system, manifolds back.
Here's some reading. I'm too tired to do all the work...

No Headers for the 2wd
Well I just got the offical word from Nick at Doug Thorley. The headers will not work on 2wd, and they will not be making any that will work..So I will have to go with tried4x2signN suggestion and have pass side fab and block off the drivers side..It sucks cause I think it would help the 2wd 3.0's be more efficient with free flowing headers. The 4x4's and 4runner Guys and Gals are lucky..
