Congratulations on the purchase, and welcome to the community! What type of 4-wheeling and/other things do you intend to do with the truck? What functional issues, if any, does it have the need to be addressed first?

Buying performance parts like headers will be more of a pain in the butt than they are worth and if you can't notice the difference when you hit the skinny pedal you are just throwing money away.
If you just want a daily driver that you can also go wheeling with you might want to start with a 3.4 swap to get a reasonable amount of power and better reliability than the 3.0.
then you'll have enough power to spin larger tires without having to regear right away.

I agree with Akwheeler. Rather than spending a ton of money trying to make the 3vze into something it'll never be, save your money and do a proper engine swap with the 5vze. Otherwise, accept the 3vze for what it is.
I had A LOT of customers try to make the 3vze stronger bitd. And keep in mind, 25-30 years ago there were companies all over the place making components for that engine since it was fairly new. So plenty of options. And none of them delivered. It SOUNDED faster/stronger, but if you cranked the radio it was hard to tell any real difference.
