New BFG A/T Question..

Well hello my fellow Yota'ers. I just have a quick question.. About two months ago I bought a set of new BFG A/T 265/75R16's. I got the load E, so with that being said.. the guy at BIG O told me that they will last longer than load D's because load E's go on like 3/4 ton trucks and what not.. so my question is Is the Big O dude right??? Thanks in advance!

I'm far from a tire professional but I am under the impression that the letter you speak of is the sidewall rating. More or less how stiff the sidewall of the tire is. As far as I know the only thing that will change tire wear is how soft the rubber is and the alignment.

I've run load range E tires on my truck for the last 9 years and love them. They do seem to last longer, I had a set of no name mud grips last for 65K miles and still had a little tread left. (in other words some people would've still run them for another 2 years!)

it's because they're stiffer, they offer less rolling resistance....bad part is they're HEAVY.

my 285/75 Toyo M/T E's are BEAST

I run 305-65/17's on my prerunner and they're great. When in the sand I air the rear down to 3psi! Dirty 15psi. Never had a problem popping a bead and I attribute that to the stiffer sidewall.

Considering the significantly higher cost I wonder if the longer tread life is worth the rougher ride? On the plus side they should be a "tougher" tire?
