How much do gears and a rear locker cost for install?
Hey there guys I was just wondering if you could give me some quotes on having gears and a locker installed in the rear. First off I have a 89 Toyota pickup with a 3.0 of course it's v6. I want to put 4.88s in front and rear with a grizzly locker installed in the back aswell. I want a price for full installation cost as if I drove in off the street with a stock rig. I was quoted $927 for the front to install 4.88 and $1545 to install 4.88 and a grizzly in the back. That comes out to $2472 total to drop it off get the work done, and drive away. To meet this seems a little bit high. I've searched around for prices online and can't seem to pull the trigger on that cost. So any help would be appreciated guys.

Too bad you can't send them in the mail to someone that does "online gear installs".....but if you did then this is an estimate for the rear...
350 labor
600 Griz locker
210 G2 488
275 master install kit
170 round trip fedex
and the front .....
300 Labor
195 r/p
030 re-use bearings/new seal/new nut/new crush
150 round trip fedex
that's probably pretty close

Gotta pay to play seems pretty on-par with what I've seen. Also gotta make sure the installer is competent or has warranty should something fail.
this is one reason why factory 4.88 differentials are so highly sought after and also why you see so many rigs still running stock gears after they upgrade tires Another option is brand new drop-in diffs from a vendor, but you gotta provide your own labor to swap them out...or pay someone to do it.
