How do you open...this thing?

I want to be able to open up this small compartment that's in front of my windshield and behind my engine.

There's a whole bunch of debris I'd like to remove and there isn't another effective way I've found other than just opening it up.

I found some screws along the bottom of it that seem to be holding it down...

But at both ends of it, the screws seem to be covered (I know it's hard to see) by some material so I can't unscrew them. And I didn't want to force anything so that I didn't break anything.

So am I supposed to force off the covers of the end screws or am I doing this completely wrong?

Any help is much appreciated.

I think its called a "cowl cover" and yes, it comes off. a few screws or clips along the front, on both ends under that "body sealant" and the other end goes under the windshield moulding. I like the idea of putting it on with clips that way it is easy to take off/put on.

Hmm, the shop vac is beginning to seem like a much more viable option...

Worshipmentor, were you referring to my last picture when you said "body sealant" or were you talking about what I could do if I used clips. I still have no idea how to take off the screws on the ends of it.

Sorry, had to go look at my "reference truck".
the only thing holding it on is 5 screws on the front edge that go into plastic nut inserts. As i said before it just slips under the front edge of the windshield seal and there is nothing holding the ends.
all this is AFTER you remove the wiper arms!!!! lol

I understand how it just slips under the front edge of the windshield, I see that. But 2 out of the 5 screws on the front edge of the cowl cover are covered by some plastic material and I'm not sure if Im supposed to do remove them because I'm not sure if that's essential to keeping them on or not.

How do you remove the wiper arms?

Thanks for the help everybody and your patience with me!
