Engine swap
I have a 1990 Toyota with the 3.0 3VZE motor. The thing just died. It will need to be rebuilt. I am trying to get it up and ready for guiding which starts for me in just a couple of weeks. i was wondering what motors would bolt up to the 5 speed manual tranny thats in it? I have a friend who has a Camry at his body shop that he might give me. I can't find out what motor is in the Camry till Monday. Just trying to get some info before then. i have seen that some Camrys have the 3VZE motor in them. Would this work in my Toyota? Thanks for all info.

The next generation of Toyota V6 engine, the 3.4L 5VZ, uses the same block as yours and will bolt right up to your 5-spd manual trans and will use the same motor mounts. The advantages over the 3.0L are the 4-valve heads, distributorless ignition packs, and about 50hp more.
As far as the Camry engines go, both the 3VZ and the 5VZ engines were available in the Camrys, but not sure of their compatability to the trucks. Best bet is to find a 5VZ, the engine wiring harness and the ECU from a manual truck to swap over to yours. There is a 3.4L Engine Swap Forum on YotaTech with a ton of info.
Good luck, it is well worth the effort!

I guess the works starts now for me to find a 3.4. Thanks for the info. It would be nice to find a wrecked truck or 4 runner with that motor in it close to my home. Thanks again.
