EGR 3vze question
Do all 3vze 4runners and trucks have an EGR temp sensor from the factory or is it specifically a California thing? I ask because I have been having air/fuel and idle issues for a while now, and while I have sorted a good chunk of it out (properly positioning timing belt, new fresh air intake tube, timing adjustment, etc.) I just realized that the EGR temp sensor is completely missing from the valve. The threaded port is vacant on the EGR valve and the pigtail for the sensor is there but no sensor. Did all toyotas produced at that time (91) have the temp sensor or was it only a CARB compliance thing?
Thanks

Thanks a bunch. I wasn't sure since the wiring connector is there but there is no sensor. My big issue currently is a higher idle (~1k rpm) the first time I drive it for the day. Any future starts when the vehicle is warm and it sits normal (850) rpm. I'm guessing the EGR valve itself may be clogged. Am also only averaging about 15mpg, but I think I might be having a slight fuel leak, that will have to wait for another day. Thanks again

I looked up the FSM to double check and it says that Cali vehicles had the temp sensor. It just seems weird that the threaded port is there with nothing in it (capped off or otherwise) I know my vehicle underwent every type of backyard sorcery imaginable before getting to me. I'm hoping cleaning the valve might get the idle back to normal levels and bump up the mpg a hair, we shall see.
