CA Smog Compliant

Ok, I searched the forums for about an hour and found nothing on this subject. So here goes,
What Year did Toyota (trucks) start making them all compatible to meet CA smog requirements?
I have a few friends who have purchased newer YOTA's in other states and have no problem with bringing them back to California to meet the Smog Reqirements and passing the tests just fine with no extra gear needed.
Does anyone here know what the "Years" are when this all started? Like if I buy a '98 Tacoma in Seattle, will it pass California smog without any extra equipment.?

Anyone know the Years, when Yota's in all the other State's became CA Smog Compliant?

Thanks,

Hopefully someone who knows for sure will chime in, but I believe that Toyota started making all Tacomas CA compliant in '00 or '01. I know that the '02 that I used for my 3.4 conversion had the full Cali equipment on it.

Anyone know the exact year? Or is it not consistent ( different in different states)?
For Tacomas.
