86 toyota w/marine battery???
Just noticed that my new to me truck has a marine deep cycle battery,500 cranking amps at 32 degrees and 405 otherwise.Have had trouble starting in the mornings as it will crank at first, but not start..then click, click etc.Eventually it starts.Rest of the day it starts fine.It has a new starterThis is a 86 2.4 EFI 4x4 5 speed.Someone mentioned to me that marine deep cycle batteries don't have the umph to start a truck/car first thing in the morning.any opinions/suggestions? A friend who works on it for me thinks it's a small wire from the battery to the starter or the starter itself, but he's out of town and not back till next week.Another suggests the solenoid.I'm not mechanical at all so who knows.

i've heard that it's not good to charge a deep cycle battery unless it's completely dead or almost completely dead.
running one in your truck, everytime it drops even slightly below a certain voltage, then the alternator will charge it (i believe)
i ran a deep cycle Everstart Maxx marine (1000CCA) in my '86 toyota for a couple of weeks until i could buy another automotive battery, and it completely destroyed that marine battery...wouldn't hold a charge AT ALL, (it was still under warranty, got a new one from walmart for free.)
the constant charging it what kills the battery.
get an automotive battery lol

Ive been running a deep cycle marine battery for about a year and a half now.
No issues whatsoever.
You're all crazy.
Not only that, but the battery is over 5 years old.

It's easily the best battery i've ever owned.
I can have a dead battery, jump/roll start it, and drive it around the block and it'll be almost completely charged.
Also, it powers my 100 watt lights on the back
