You probably won't find any stock 4.88 3rds in a junk yard, very rare. Finding 4.56 3rds will still be difficult and they would be on the weak side for 34s anyways. Regearing your existing 3rds to 4.88 (or if it was me, 5.29s) is your best bet IMO. Then just sell your re-geared ifs front diff when you SAS. If you're going to do a cheap locker, throw a Detriot or an Aussie in there.

dang 91 toyota, you should be golden wit just bj spacers!!! but like i said im happy with my body lift and havent a had any problems with it. Imo it was a good way to get that extra bit of lift cause just the height of the bj spacers wont cutting it for me anymore. lol

I run 4:88's with 31" tires. It's an amazing power difference and I'm not looking forward to getting back to stock power when I go to 33's. You will not be sorry if you go with a little more expensive gears right off the bat - especially if you plan to run 34" tires. Also, because you have the 4cyl, you can make up the difference for the price of the gears if you go with the Aussie locker. I love mine!

And, technically, if you run 34" tires with 4:88 gears you're closer to stock performance, IIRC. 5.29's will give you more power than stock, right?

depends on transmission... and preference... you defiantly can't be sued over it... I hope it's still a free country...

Ah, I knew there was something missing other than preference.

i think i will get the tires mounted on the truck with bj' spacers then see if i need to trim first. i hear you backgateyota, i find most extcabs look low compared to my truck lol.

thanks guys for the input

gears off of TG are just the ring and pinion. you'd have to pay someone to put them in which is gonna be pricey. you're better off finding used ones. or if you went 33s like i said, you can find used toyota diffs for 500 and just throw a locker of your choice in

Hey, contact MSR on here (mikes speciality repair). Or check his website www.mikesspecialityrepair.com
See if he has a set of 4.88's used laying around. I had mike do both my diffs, locker and gearing. I bought a used set of 4.88's for the front cheap and they are perfect. My truck wheels like a tank!

ok cool maybe i will give him a call some time soon. im kinda thinking 5.29's would be cool now, little bit lower than stock so i can get a little more torque offroad, and i dont hwy drive often so they might be better but we will see.
