22re wont start

Well the gas on the plugs occured after I poured straight gas into the efi. Yes it has a cold start injector but I just replaced that about 3 months ago. My original one broke when I pulled the motor to replace the clutch . It ran with it broke just a pain to get going when it was cold so of course I unplugged it and tried. Still nothing. Just spins over. Trying to get hold of the toyota doctor now

Well..... I got called today.... not good news. Tensioner broke on timing chain. Mucked up at least 4 of the brand new valves. Guy hasnt dug deeper yet to see what else is shot. Said tensioner almost shot through timing chain cover.... soooo... I told him just to go ahead and give her a complete rebuild. New rings, bearings, the works...

Well since im at it... im going for the big bang.... complete engine rebuild. Roughly $2700. Bored, New rings, pistons, valves, cam, timing chain.... everything. Pretty much a brand new engine when I get it back. I wont complain too much it has 290,000 miles on it and shes worth it to me

Yeah thats why I just said go for it. It was going to be 1800 to just fix the head, valves, tensioner, and timing chain so I figured if im going to go that far might as well go all the way

Seeing you quote those prices right there just made me realize reason #3671 why I drive a Toyota w/22re. If I have the time I can do almost anything engine related in my garage. The key phrase is "if I have the time", but I have always loved getting greasy.
