1st gen tacoma rear shocks
Hey everyone! Doing a toytec coilover front adjustable lift kit to level out my dad's 2002 tacoma x-cab trd 4x4 5 speed. We just want to level the front out to the rear and are trying to find a proper shock. I want a bilstein 5 series (5100 or 5125) but I notice that people have trouble bottoming out the shocks before they hit the bump stop. Since that is sometimes the case I went out to wheeler's offroad and found online the specs they list for their rear 5125 kit. These are the specs for the short and long shock respectively.

Some people say they have issues with the shock bottoming out before the bump stop is it. So i went ahead and cross referenced some stock height shocks and found the numbers for ranchos.
rancho short
Compressed Length: 13.070
Extended Length: 20.320
Travel Length: 7.250
rancho long
Compressed Length: 13.630
Extended Length: 21.450
Travel Length: 7.820
Looking at these numbers, I notice that the short bilstein measurement wise is the same as the long rancho. So i figured, if i could find a bilstein 5125 that matched the short rancho then maybe i would have a kit that would not bottom out early. I found this 5125 shock

This shock seems to be exactly the same specs as the short rancho. If this is the case, then it would seem better to run these two 5125 shocks on a stock height vehicle, ans then maybe I can avoid bottoming out the shock before I hit the bump stop? Questions, comments, and criticisms welcomed!
