1995 3.0 oil leak on top of the block
OK guys this is my first post but I am a frequent lurker and found lots of help on a 22re rebuild about a year ago and I need some ideas with an oil leak on a 3.0L. I recently put head gaskets on a 3.0 and when I fired it the first time it was leaking oil down the back of the block onto the bell housing. So I thought it might be a problem with the head gaskets, maybe I nicked the gasket setting the head back on. the valley between the heads where the knock sensor is was filled with oil. I pulled them both back off and found no obvious problems, Valve covers were clean and dry. I sent the heads to be rechecked and the machine shop found no leaks this time either. I reinstalled the heads with new gaskets again and put it all back together. when I fired it up again it was leaking oil from the same spot onto the bell housing AGAIN. pulled the plenum and intake off again and the valley was full of oil again. I am lost on where it is coming from any advice would be appreciated .

Did you put FIPG/RTV in the locations indicated on page EG2-78 and 79?

I have found my oil leak. When I got the intake off of it this time I left the oil system together and remove the oil pressure unit and blew air into the hole and oil came spraying out between the block and the head. pulled the head and sent it back to the machine shop for the third time to be checked and the head was 0.001 from true on both ends. So the guy at the machine shop both me a new head gasket and I reinstalled the head with a good spray of copper coat and got a tight seal. Thanks for the input guys.
