well, even when my truck was an auto, I could still roast em a little bit, you should have enough power especially in a truck with no weight in the back. There are so many ways that a 3.0 can lack power. Maybe you aren't getting enough fuel, possibly a dirty fuel filter?

after chasing more power with thousands of dollars, i have come to terms with the fact that i just can't go fast. make sure everything is working properly, especially what was mentioned above, but i think you should realize quickly that this is the weakest v6 you may ever own. Good luck with the new rig and welcome to the club. There's plenty of reading on here about how awesome our engines are!

there's tons of info on here about this (weak) engine, there's a great write up on customtacos I think it is about the 3vz and maintenance, excellent write up. If I can find it again I will post the link up here.

Here's a great place to start also: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...-first-214051/

If you can't stand the lack of power (I hear ya trust me...) then do a motor swap, the 3.4 is the easiest swap to do

Hi jmorganwrx, did you find the problem for the lack of power?
I have a 88 V6 4Runner with the same issue, and I have compare the same with others 4Runner and you can see the big difference, there 4Runner are more powerful.
