We have outgrown our 02 pathfinder and would like to go with a 4runner with third row seat. I just did not know which years and trim levels came with it. Also, those with the third row and kids how well do they fit back there? Ease of use? thanks for any info.

The 96-02 I don't think was offered in North America with the 3rd row. 4th gens (03-09) do have them as an option, I've heard many comments that it's very tight for legroom in the back but at least it's available.

 

Just FYI alot of cruisers have third row in case you hadn't thought of it.

 

I think the last generation and the current 4Runner were the only ones with 3rd rows. I have a 2006 4Runner as a family car and it's nice to have. They are easy to take out too when you want to haul something big.

The other nice thing with these generations of 4Runners is that with the 3rd row out, the middle seats recline almost flat and the front seats recline to meet the middle seats....making 2 really comfortable beds.

Great for camping! No tent needed.

When I bought my 04 SR5 I looked at the 3rd row but they were not very useful for more then a couple of small kids. My boys 7 and 9 at the time just fit.

That my 2 cents, for what it worth.

 

Thanks for the replys that was the info I was looking for. My oldest is 5 so the small space is not a concern.
