V8 Option in Future 4Runners?

I'd love a fuel efficient V8. but honestly? I could careless for the "motor". I'd rather see a SMALLER 4runner. 4th and 5th gens are practically worthless in terms of wheeling in the wilderness... they basically are restrained to fire roads, and even then, they get a little tight on some trails.
so all in all. i'm all for a smaller 4Runner, maybe some redesign, and a powerful v6.

lmfao thats terrible! yeah. Im not exactly "skinny" ( about 20 lbs over weight ) and im 6'. I find my 4Runner extremely comfy, I actually prefer it more than domestic vehicles. its awkward talking to the person sitting next to you when they're like 2-3 feet away. hahaha

Correct me if I'm wrong, but presently the Jeep Grand Cherokee is the primary competition that offers a much high towing capacity then the 4runner. It could happen if the demand is there. My feeling....if you want to tow 7.5 k, you are better off with a heavier Sequia then just more power from an 8 in lighter mid size. I would just rather see a more powerful hybrid, like the Hylander offers that gives you both, better acceleration and a little better mileage.
But stream fording with all those added electrics would give me pause..second thought, bring on the 8.
Btw, they do make a "smaller " 4 Runner. It's call an FJ.

IMO, the biggest competition for the Tundra is the Tacoma. Offering a v8 in either the 4runner or the Tundra, puts them again in direct competition with the Sequoia and Tundra for those at the entry level in the larger vehicles. Car makers want them to move up from lower priced vehicles to more expensive and bigger. The Tacoma and 4Runner have gotten pretty big.....maybe too big for their own good. IMO, one of the reasons that the new 4runner has gone more back to it's roots, was it's direct competition with the Highlander. To heck with the 4.6 idea and give me a stout little diesel.

IF the 4.6 really does get 20mpg like they say it does, then why not? More power same milage is fine. Just not a little bit more power with way less mpg's. That sucks...

V8 4Runner? It's gone the way of the dodo bird my friend. The earth is now flat. Hang on to what you have, because everything under 9 passengers will be unibody by the end of the decade.
