TSB SU006-07 Harsh Ride 06-07 Tacomas
So who has dealt with this? I called the dealership today with my TSB in hand and they told me they have to inspect it and test it out and a bunch of other crap. The paint is gone off my frame from the bumpstops hitting it. It rides horrible loaded. My truck is under warranty I have the TSB in my hand and I'm complaining about an issue. I don't see why they act like it's coming out of their personal salary to fix my truck. It's looking like it's going to be a steering relay rod recall nightmare all over again.

UK,
It seems to depend on the dealership. Some dealers are cooler than others about this. They shuld fix it without too much hassle. Take a look at this thread over on TTORA about it http://www.ttora.com/forum/showthread.php?t=75838 ... it may give you some better info. I have a new '08 with the same springs that they are replacing. I will be looking to go to my dealer with this problem soon..
Good Luck,
Frick

Thanks Frick I read that whole thread and replied to it yesterday. I was surprised there wasn't more info over here on it. I'm calling another dealership this morning to see if I can get in and have them look at where my bumpstops been beating on the frame and take my word for it. That is ridiculous that I have to load my truck up and take it in for their inspection. My compliant, warranty, and the TSB should be all they need.

Well I took an extended lunch today and went to the other dealership. They immediately used the lift card. They initially tried to tell me I had voided my drivetrain warranty because of my Revtek lift that TOYOTA installed when it was brand spankin new. I pointed to the three lifted trucks in front of their dealership and asked if all of those had no warranty too. It was a different dealership that installed mine but I had the paperwork to prove it. So after we got past that they said their techs would have to drive it and see. I waited an hour and finally seen it go ripping out of the parking lot. The guy was gone 30 minutes and put 9 miles on my truck. After he got back another tech took off in it and was only gone a few minutes. I was standing there when we got out of it and he walked up to the service desk and told the kid to order the parts. Not sure what they thought they would accomplish driving it empty but it must have convinced them of something.
So now I get to wait for the parts to come in. I'm worried now because the TSB has them replace the U-bolts. Mine are longer because of the lift block. Hopefully they are smart enough to re-use them and actually torque them to spec. I'll update this thread after parts come and they do the install which I'm dreading. Maybe I can convince them to just give me the springs and let me do it.

The dealership you are working with is full of BS. All it took for mine was 5 minutes for them to run the VIN number and ask if it was TRD or non TRD. They ordered the parts and mine is getting done Tuesday morning.
As far as the Rear U bolts, keep in mind that is something that should not be re-used. The u-bolts stretch. I will need to order another longer set to go with the rear blocks (which suck). When I get done dumping $$$$ into my '81 I will hopefully get a set of OME Dakars for the '05.

My truck was with the dealer all day today. When I called at the supposed pick up time she said it just needed to be aligned.....? The TSB I had said it was only supposed to be aligned if all 4 shocks were also replaced. It was not that big of deal but the last time they had a rig of mine (my Runner) on their alignment back I took it back twice and finally took it downtown to have it done right. Because of this I did not want it back on their rack when they didn't touch the front end. They ended up just throwing it on their rack and checking the numbers. I also found out there is a REVISED TSB out there for this. The one I had was different than what they had.
Now to the good stuff. I've never been happy with the ride of my truck. I figured it was because of the crappy Revtek lift that I had the dealer install when I bought it. With these new springs it's night and day difference in the ride quality!!!!! Also before when I stood on it hard in 1st gear I got a vibration that concerned me. It does not do that anymore so I'm thinking it was axle wrap I was feeling. As soon as I got home I threw my trailer on and loaded the Runner on it and the rear end barely moves now. I had every intention of getting some before and after measurements but of course I totally spaced out measuring today. I did have to raise the tongue of my trailer up about an inch to get the ball under it from the last time I unhooked it.
Its a PIA but if you qualify for this go get it done!!

This TSB has been replaced with T-SB-0305-08.
The TSB goes into more detail about the problems and procedures to fix it.
It also encompasses the 2008 model year as well.

Just an FYI on this TSB it now covers 2005-2010 models of the Tacoma. You can download the actual TSB here (T-SB-0305-08 is now what it's called) and no it hasn't been fixed in production for the US they are still shipping with 3 leaf packs.
Also for those who have the extended warranty from Toyota, it's best to call into extra car first and then go into the dealer with the approval. I didn't do this and Toyota initially denied the work, but I went home and called extra care and told them the frame was hitting the bump stops when I had 3 passengers and nothing in the bed. The rep said that since that was a mechanical failure they would cover it. My truck is an 05 with 42k miles on it, so I couldn't have gotten it done under the 3/36.
There is a great thread on this here if you need more detail plus other TSB for the 05+ Tacoma.
