Suspension Replaced for Free!

Suspension Replaced for Free!
Well thanks to a lot of information on the internet, I managed to learn what a TSB is and as a result got Toyota to replace my suspension for free. My truck I noticed had soft suspension. Toyota initially looked at it and said everything is fine and there is nothing they could do. I spoke with Toyota National as well as the customer service manager locally. Once I brought the TSB to their attention and after they confirmed it, they replaced all four shocks and the leaf springs. My truck had the stock shocks, and now it has the bilsteins. My leaf springs also have one more spring in it now for a total of four. If you have any issues with your suspension I highly reccommend it. My truck handles 10 times better now. I couldn't be happier. The day after they did the work I loaded it up with camping gear and hooked up my boat and took a 130 mile camping trip. I can't believe the difference! Anyway, just thought I would share this experience in case it helps anyone. The TSB applies to 2005, 2006, 2007 tacomas, they will replace all shocks and leaf springs on non TRD trucks and leaf springs only on the TRD model.

oh yeah they checked the head light fluid and the blinker fluid and only charged me once.
as far as i know, all 2005, 2006, 2007 are included. to know if your truck is eligible, check your leaf springs, you probably have 2 long plus one short. the TSB replaces this with 3 long and one short. the shock absorber upgrade is to replace with bilsteins, so if you dont have these already (i.e. non-trd truck) then this should be done also. the tsb covers only tacoma pre runner or 4X4 trucks.
TSB #Su006-07
by the way, that trip to the lake left me with some small scratches on my driver door......700 bucks estimated to fix. thats what you get when you take 20 guys, a keg of beer and put them on a lake shore for three days....my truck is officially broken in!

If you check out Empire Performance and Off Road http://www.empirepao.com/ , look at the left side of his home page under Tech-TSB (direct link won't work for some reason) he has a list of several TSB for 05+ Tacomas--including the weak Tailgate TSB...
I know there is an easier link somewhere but this is the one a quick search found...

I have 1400 miles on my 08' double cab trd offroad and holy crap... only 3-springs on the rear. e-mailed my dealership yesterday. Ill let you all know what they say. I was wondering why the truck seemed to have such a soft rear end(i keep 180 lbs of sand in the bed for the slick roads).

After my dealer looked into the TSB he came back with the same information ocdropzone stated in his post above: the springs have been beefed up on the 08' tacomas. in looking at the 3-leaf pack on my truck, the leaf's are substantially thicker than others ive seen.
hope this helps!

I recently bought an 05 Tacoma w/ the trd pack... its out of warranty by close to 10k miles and over in-service date... truck sits level and I actually like the ride when empty... I AM having the harsh ride when loaded and assumed I was pushing stock capacity... any thoughts on whether I should try to correct thru toyota's stock parts or aftermarket options?

Possible Good News...
I just returned from Cavender Toyota in San Antonio where I was informed that Toyota is looking at TSB issues on vehicles that are out of warranty... of course they made absolutely no committment and I had to schedule to leave truck there a few hours next week... sa told me I had 50/50 chance depending on what techs find... may be worth a shot...

I really don't know what to actually believe because my truck has all the symptoms. I am going to have to stiffen up rear suspension just to pursue my hobbies... was really hoping for a hand up from Toyota, but not too disappointed as it would have been all gravy my truck was so far out of warranty
