Replaced antenna and base, poor reception
Hi all, I bought my 2007 base model Tacoma a few months back with a sheared off radio antenna and corroded base. Finally got around to replacing the base and antenna. I put on an aftermarket 16" short antenna and radio reception was really poor, could only get 2 stations (I'm in the city and even with cheapy portable radios you can get dozens of stations). Figured it might just be a bad antenna so bought a 31" antenna same as OEM. Same thing, bad reception but now can get 4 stations. Bout to rip my hair out over this one; what the heck is going on?!?

Update: I'm an idiot. Writing this out got me thinking. I checked to see if the antenna cable was plugged all the way in to the stereo...it wasn't. Doh!! Must have come loose when I did the aux in but since there was no antenna at the time, I didn't know the difference
