Poorest quality Tacoma ever?

The Market Will adjust accordingly.

Which reminds me of the 1995 Accrod we have sitting outside
that was built in the Heart of it All, Ohio, 13 years and 245k miles ago.
How's that for American-assembled cars?
Anyway, I think that Honda will eventually become #1. The only other
company I could see taking over is Ford, as much it kills me to say it.
They've been puting up some serious improvements in quality numbers
as of late.

Hey Dirt,
I read the Wiki, it says Toyota has efficient logistics. Derived from Piggly Wiggly.
I did not read anything about "copied by every car manufacturer on planet earth" or "the most efficient"
Thanks Kiwi

concerning the soccer mom oriented vehicles these days, something should have raised a red flag in your mind when Toyota went from the 8" solid front axle to IFS. So you have a "nicer Ride" I will take off road performance in the form of even a harsh ride on road anyday.
ive followed many sas rigs in my ifs, and not had that big of a problem. dont a prob with the taco ifs set up.
toyota moving to ifs was them catering to a mass use rather then a specific "genre". ive never seen a soccer mom in a taco. not round here.

you dont get out much huh.
its well known that almost all car manufactures are following the Toyota principles of production. Where was it said they invented the production line?
edit: to correct myself.

i think the products on the interior such as carpet and seats and plastics have gone down hill as well as the paint but as far as the heart of the new Toyotas such as engine tranny and all the important stuff i think my tacoma will give my old 22re a run for it's money in reliability plus it has a lot more power.
As far as the interior products are concerned it is just hard to keep the quality of the older trucks while adding so many more creature comforts, my new truck isn't a Lexus i can't expect it to feel like one with all that plastic compared to the older genration trucks that don't have much to them, and i am expecting it to rattle a bit more with so many more things in the cab, so i would say Toyota has done good with what is expected of todays buyer.
And for Honda i know that the Honda Odyssey is terrible in reliability and so they cannot be excluded from this closer look, and just the other day i rode in a 2005 Honda Civic with just of 40k on the clock and that thing was rattling like a bb in tin can, and this guy really takes care of his cars.

I'm pretty sure (or at least I hope so) he's talking about the Toyota Production System. not the invention of the assembly line. Toyota created a lean manufacturing system or pull system that operates on demand instead of max production capacity (like the big 3). This is the method that IS being copied by companies all over the world. There are contractors that make a living out of teaching this lean system to manufacturing facilities. This system does not only apply to the automotive industry but almost all of manufacturing.

Hey Guys,
I'm sure Toyota has a wonderful "Production System", as You cant argue with success.
I'm sure it's copied regularly, and I'm sure there are contractors making money teaching this Piggly Wiggly inspired "system".
My point is, Dirtoyboy's statement is extremely broad, ("EVERY car manufacture on planet earth") and all encompassing.
The part about "no doubt the most effiecient" is open for debate.
This was all said after, he completely insulted Toyotas American workforce, with the most, inflammatory, antagonistic remarks, I have ever read on this site.
Thanks Kiwi

Please explain your piggly wiggly production "system".
Yes, I made a BROAD, GENERALIZED, STEROTYPICAL statement regarding American auto workers vs/ Japanese ones... SO WHAT? I'm free to think or say whatever i want.
Thanks,

The difference is in Japan there is a guy with tiny hands and a micrometer checking and rechecking clearances on your door jams.....
In America.....its most likely a hungover, fat, un-educated, over paid redneck trying to put slot b in tab a (no offense to anyone in the industry...its just how I percieve it from a personal standpoint)

Simply put, dont stock parts untill You need them, and better cordination of parts and supplies to the assm. line, on a, as needed basis. No google or wiki needed.

Well... you guys convinced me... that and my own experience, Consumer Reports, Edmunds... etc.
I added a vehicle... the Ridgeline shown below.
I recommend the Costco buying program. 2K off the MSRP. And no hassle. You can't buy an 06 for what I paid for a brand new 08.
Its dirty already... as I have mud and dirt driving (4miles each way) just to leave home. And its been raining hard, so I got to test it in a lot of slippery mud.
I can see why it has the highest consumer satisfaction of any truck... on CR.
Handling is really excellent. My Great Dane loves the back seat(s).
The trunk is excellent!.
Their are lots of other "pros"... but to be fair, I'll mention a "con".
The "blind-spot"... (mirrors are excellent... but still...
No skid plates... but the pan is reasonably protected.
Dealer appears to be "expensive" for repair and maintenance... unlike the excellent Toyota dealer in the area.
My wife wanted a Tacoma. Can't even get her to try it (on day 1).
These are first impressions. But after being a Honda bigot since 1964... I finally bought one (I need 4wd or AWD so never bought a Honda vehicle before yesterday). My experience has been with their motorcycles... currently a Gold Wing, generators (the EU2000i is as good as iit gets), and their ATV's. All excellent.
But I will keep and continue to insure the two Toyotas.. which are running perfectly...

Hey rdharper,
Congratulations on Your new truck! Sounds like a great deal also.
I also, like the Honda ATV's and have 3 of the 06's, 2 Ranchers and a Foreman. With nothing but good things to say about them.
I'm sure You will be happy with the Ridgeline.
Thanks Kiwi

I understand your frustration. But you have to look
at from the perspective of other people involved.
The off road market isn't targeted with pickup trucks.
They gave us FJ's and Wrangler's for that.
John Truckbuyer is going to go to the local dealership
and ask what features they offer. He'll think, in the event
that I actually leave pavement, it'll just be on grass. So, why is approach/departure important? On the other hand, he also thinks,
I drink coffee every day on the way to work. Therefor, cupholders are more important than approach angles
I agree it sucks that every new truck model is uglier than the last one
and they all seem to be losing functionality in favor of comfort and convenience. Its all about what the consumers want, not what the online forum guys with no money want.

Oh sure, I totally agree and that was my point. There are way more people out there with money in their pockets that want a 4x4 for "safety reasons" rather than off road capability. Horsepower and towing capacity and cupholders and side airbags are the things that sell a truck (to most folks). I think the re-release of the FJ was a good strategic move for Toyota.
I think the qualitiy issues are all from a pure numbers game too. If you make 70% more cars than you did last year, you'll probably have a higher number of reported problems.
Anyway, let's just hope Toyota always stays ahead of everyone else and keep building cars and trucks that people actually want to buy.

not from us.
Plain and simple, is it worth parading around like a jackass on
an internet forum, offending people and putting down what they
like/have so you can get your ridiculous opinions across?
Now, I didn't create this forum, but I hardly think its main function
was to discuss what race was better. I also didn't create this
thread, but I hardly think the OP's intent was to get sidetracked
with your mindless banter.
