Question New Rear Spring Solution Needed

Hi Everyone,

I currently have a custom 3” lift Alcan leaf pack in my 06 Tacoma. I’ve had them for about 4 years and the eyelet that holds the rear bushing on the driver’s side has broken. The bushing is starting to squeeze out. I’ve spoken w/ Alcan and my local spring shop and there’s really nothing to be done to fix the pack for under $300. I’m wondering what my best options are.

I don’t really off road much any more. Most of my driving is back and forth to work. The Alcans were way too stiff. I drive empty bed nearly all the time. I load up my motorcycle (450 lbs) about twice a year and tow a 3,600 lbs boat about 100 miles per year. I do camping and ski trips regularly, but that’s probably only 250lbs in the bed. Ideally, I’d like 2” of lift to reduce my driveline vibrations.

It looks like my options are:
Fix the Leaf Pack
Buy an Add a Leaf for my Original Springs
Buy a set of OME Dakars
New Custom Pack (Alcan or Deavers)

What do you think? I’m in analysis-paralysis mode right now…

Why cant you just replace the bushing?

I would go OME springs.

Hi Greg,

Thanks for the response! If you look at the "bad" pic you can see red at the eyelet. That red is the bushing - instead of the eyelet being an "O" its now a "C". So the pack needs a new main spring.

Alcan doesn't have an information on my springs because they were built before they sold the company. I'd have to ship the springs from Maine to Colorado and back to get them rebuilt.

Ahhhhhh what a pain!!
If you aren't happy with them anyways, i'd go for something different that better suit your needs.
