We have receintly purchase a 2006 4Runner Sport Edition with the X-RES option. We asked the dealer that we wanted it lifted as part of the sale. No problem said the dealer and referenced the Rev Tek kit. A week after the sale they are saying that they can't do it. Question, is there a lift kit for the new 4Runner with XRES that is works and won't screw with the XRES?

Dealer won't do the xreas lift so you're gonna have to find some offroad shop or do it yourself. It is not that difficult if you know how and there are 2 instructions manuals floating on the net showing how with photos. Both were done by members with limited experience in them and have been very successful. Installation takes 4-8 hours depending on how many helping hands you have. I've personally done a handful and it is not that difficult.

I would recommend Cornfed as your solutions for the spacers as they're top notch items. Cornfed Suspension

If you need installation directions, here's Daystar's version (for the non xreas).
Click me. The only difference is that you can't remove the shock completely w/o disconnecting the xreas (which is also possible but requires additional steps). Just keep the shock in place and work around it using coil compressors. If you need help, there are many members with experience with this installation so I'm confident one of us will be able to assist you anytime.

Thanks for all the thorough advice and links of how too. By the way your Chaos version is awsome!! Wish I had the time and dedication. My wife and I do alot of camping in the remote areas of Arizona and New Mexico and have had several 4 Runners since 1996, also have my original 4x4, a 73 CJ-5 that has done many miles of back roads. We had a 2003 SR5 that we were thinking of lifting however we traded it in for the new 2006 Sport Edition and have a we owe from the dealer on the lift installed. With the info you have provided I will further persue the option for them to install the cornfed or daystar kits to fullfill their obligation to the deal. If not I will be looking for help to install the kits you mentioned. Thanks for the leads and info. This is a great site.

 

This looks great to me. Any ideas as to recalibrating the speedo for bigger tires and does the vehicle need to be realigned or anything after installation?
If its as easy as it looks to be and no probs I'll be doing this real quick.

I haven't found anyone that bothered to recalibrate the speedo as of yet. I know AAA can recalibrate it for you though. As for alignment, get that done after a few hundred miles of wear and tear on your new suspension.

Don't forget, spacers will give you a harsher ride so keep that in mind. If you have xreas it's the best option by keeping what you have but if you want to remove it or swap it out completely or even don't have xreas then I'd recommend OME's as a better solution.

Would you think that for no more lift than gained, I'd be better off just leaving it alone since I sure don't want to gamble with ride qulity and handling. I really do love my this car and dont want to screw it up. Maybe just some better tires in stock size and continue being happy huh?

 

Adding spacers will make your ride stiffer but not to the point where the ride is unbearable. Not sure if there are any members in your area but if you find any, check out their lifted ride and you may quickly change your tune

I'm sure once you take your 4runner out on the trails, you'll get the mod bug and go crazy by buyin stuff! Well that or go crazy on the 40 that you have.

Revtek Lift kit includes rear shocks for an exchange. With XREAS you have to go with Cornfed or Daystar. With all others lift kits you'll need to remove XREAS. I agree with GoodTimes, Cornfed is better.
