How much to repair? Need your opinions
I am just about to purchase a Toyota. I was gonna get a low mileage 1999-2002 4runner, but I've found a truck I'm very interested in. It's a 2005, some body damage, 73k miles, they're asking $9900 ($10k is my max budget at the moment). The vehicle is 100% driveable, so I was thinking about buying it, driving it as it for a while, then as funds allow do some repairs. However, I need an idea of how much money I'm looking at for those repairs. I'd be traveling about 1000 miles to get it, so I can't really take it to a shop and get an estimate. I'm mainly just wondering if I can save some money doing it this way, or if I should just hold out and get one that's not damaged. So, what do you guys think? Thanks for any input, it's greatly appreciated!

that's nothin'. i'd thow out the stock front bumper anyway to get a real bumper. the door probably 3-400 bucks. or find a junk yard door with same color and be done with it.
get a tiregate for the tailgate. check ttora, they are mainly taco people.

Didn't know if they could use PDR on the ones that big. The only thing that gets me is that it seems if it was just a easy/cheap fix that the dealer would do it and then sale for a lot more. The listing has been removed, so I'm guessing it sold (it was on both autotrader and cars.com).

Since that is not a typical color, and with as new as the body style is, it would be hard to find a junkyard door in that color.
If it could have been fixed cheaply, the dealer probably would have done it so they can get more money out of it and sell it quicker.
With the economy like it is, you should be able to get a similar truck in better shape for similar money. All it takes is time to search for the right one. Don't give up.
By the way, when they add the cost of tax, tag, etc., the cost will probably be close to $11,000 or more, unless you can talk them down.
