Does anyone know what size tires he's running now with the lift?
I think it looks really good.
Hey Lance, that sucks Downey is lagging, I'll send 'em some emails for you guys too. It would seem they already have the hard part finished, and rear coils shouldn't be that difficult. Your truck is gonna look sweet.

Good Times 09-26-2003 06:41 PM

Thanks Rob :)

I believe Lefty is running 265/70/16. Then again it might be the 285's but I'm not sure. Regardless it looks good :)

I'm crossing my fingers that the rear coils will be done by the time I go down the SD!!!! Damn....

Okay, here I go again.....bump for coilover pics
:D  :bounce: ;)

If I had the xreas system and then at a later date did away with the system and made a replacement with coilovers in the front and shock/coil system in the rear, about how much $ (ballpark) would that run? Thanks!

JGS:

Sample picture of Sway-A-Way's coilovers. It's basically a shock and coil but you're able to crack the coil so you get more lift.

HRE814:

Front coilovers run anywhere from 600-1000 depending on which ones you get. SAW's are 675 and 825 installed. King Coilovers (which are the cream of the crop) run I think in the 1000 range.
Rear coil and shock is probably going to run you 200? (someone chime in as I really don't know!).

But like I said before, if you're planning to lift your 4runner (future), I'd suggest you avoid getting the XREAS as it's a waste of $$$. Save that $ for other mods!

Good Times -
I meant bump for pics of a 4th gen with coilovers installed (which I realize doesn't exist yet)!!

:pics:

I hope that pic can help others, but I'm no :nono: noob!! :pat:

JGS:

hehe, as for the 4th gen coilover pix, it will look exactly the same as the 3rd gen. Hopefully as soon as Downey finished the rear coil, they'll install it on my 4runner and I'll be able to take some pix for all of ya :)

I've heard that SAW is working on their coilovers too but I haven't heard of any news of if they are done. King Shocks are still pending as I have already made arrangements with them on their set.

I don't think so, his post says he's running 265's, I don't think 285's are going to fit the 4th gen without some hammering and snipping. I guess I could throw my 285's on my wife's runner and see for sure whether they will or not.

Good Times 09-26-2003 09:19 PM

Keisur:

Lefty has a 2" lift all around so I'm pretty sure he might be able to squeeze in some 285's. But I'm sure it's unlikely. Most likely he's running 265.70.16.

I'm still stock and I rub at full lock when i go into my driveway so I know 285's won't fit at all w/o some significant lift :D But as soon as Downey gets my lift in I know I will fit 285's! Ofcourse I plan to do alot of trimming though as I already know where I'll be rubbing :)

it may be sqeazed in there but I'd hate to see it flex over big bumps, major rubbing. 2" isn't much, 285's are barely rub-free on my 3rd gen with 3", and I had to flatten the pinch weld and the rear of the front wheelwell to stop some rubbing.

reread his post, he's got 265/75's:

In the end, the net lift was just over 2" (about 2 1/8", to be exact). Sooooo..... combined with the 265/75s , the lift has netted me just over 2.5" of increased ground clearance. The lowest point on the vehicle, which is the skidplate directly under the exhaust cross-over pipe, is now 10 5/8" from the ground.

'nuff said.

OK..here is a dumb question. Does the new GX-470 have the same suspension as the '03 Runner? Since I am in Germany and my wife is in Oklahoma @school I can not go out side and look under her car. Just wondering how a GX would look lifted... But the wife would :saw:

Keisur,
Thanks! Question though, why not add some pics of your wife's 2003 to your webpage??

FirstToy 09-27-2003 04:04 AM

If not the same, then very similar. The GX is proportioned like the Land Cruiser so it would look good lifted, imo. Not something too many GX owners are worried about I suspect.

I have to agree. I want to lift it. She wants to get a supercharger for it.:D She said she liked the whining my Runner makes.

b1rd0g 09-27-2003 07:09 AM

How much of an impact will the 2.5" lift place on the CVs? I am told that problems may not occur now, but the longer you run with a lift, the more probability of issues in the future.

Let me know? The pics look great!

Good Times 09-27-2003 08:42 AM

CV's should be fine with 2.5" of lift. I would suspect that you will run into issues with a 3" lift. I have heard that they did some redesigning and you can lift it 3" w/o any issues but none of really know as only Lefty has a lift and that is only 2" at best. Hopefully we'll know soon when I get the coilovers from Downey.

Or we can wait for SAW to get theirs done first but other than that I don't see anyone doing a 3" lift anytime soon.

FirstToy 09-27-2003 10:59 AM

I don't think it would be a problem either. The CVs look like they are close to horizontal or actually angle up to the wheels so 2" would probably make them just shy of horizontal.

hehe, some of the 4th gen owners here wouldn't want to hear my answer to that question.:D
