just got an email back from arb usa. they say that they are not looking at any suspensions for the new generation until "a future date...do not have an ETA" :bang: looks like ome is dropping down the list of possibilities -- too bad. looks like saw is back at the top of the wish list...

hey lefty- did a search for "daystar" to find pics of your rig, found a thread titled "Tire\Wheel Info for 4th Gens" but the pics do not show up. did you take 'em down? or is there another thread?

Hmmmm..... It appears that Montypics has changed their free membership rules and cancelled my account ! So much for posting pics using their site...

I sent you a PM, I will host pics. Also, I spoke with Daystar about X-Reas...I believe I could do 1.25 " with a spacer on top at the front. The trouble is I would end up with 2" in back !! David |

Thanks for the offer to host the pix ! I'll send them your way when I get home tonight. As for lifting the x-reas, I would strongly urge you to lift only the front if you are limited to only a 1.25" lift up there. The 4th Gens are already very nose heavy, so adding another .75" would make it look VERY odd. Just my $ .0199... Steve |
Maybe this time next year there will be a couple different makers of 4th gen lifts in production...

I'm about to ditch the X-Reas. I like it but I think I like a larger than 1.25" lift even more!
Removing the X_Reas? Is it feasible and cost efficient? Stiffer springs, bushings and shocks will reduce pitch and roll. I can live with those and a 3" lift. Any word on availability yet? By the way: TJM and ARB both have no plans for the 4th Gen bumpers any time soon. In case anyone was wondering. Hmmm I guess no need for SAWs! |

I would like to reiterate: "Damn you guys are good!!"
Could you make my Runner with a 22 yr old columbian chick alongside it? If you could make that happen for real, then you'd be considered Gods!! :laugh: Hopefully soon there'll be no need for a photochop, at least of the Columbian. :D Doug |

It is essentially the same as the prototype that was on my truck since February, minus the "tooling" that occurred on that one. I'll save everyone from the details and pictures on the truck since that information has already been posted since that time (Hint: do a search on "Daystar"). In the end, the net lift was just over 2" (about 2 1/8", to be exact). Sooooo..... combined with the 265/75s, the lift has netted me just over 2.5" of increased ground clearance. The lowest point on the vehicle, which is the skidplate directly under the exhaust cross-over pipe, is now 10 5/8" from the ground. In conclusion, I'm impressed by the lift. Installation was a breeze (if you have a spring compressor !), taking 3 of us less than 4 hours to complete the installation. Other than renting a spring compressor and having an alignment done, there are no other costs associated with the lift. Riding characteristics changed very little, with the exception of additional "tippiness" encountered during cornering (Lefty's note: Get wheels with less offset !). Finally, and most importantly, I never once had an issue with the spacers over more than 7000 miles of driving on and off road. Yes, I know it's only 7K miles, but based upon the condition of the prototype that we took off the truck, it could last more than 10 times as long. 'nuff said. Steve |
